Self-Care

Self-care is about looking after you. It’s about caring for yourself, being kind and compassionate, identifying your needs; focusing on connection, communication and the relationship with ourselves and others whether that is physical self-care ensuring you are getting enough rest, that you are eating well and being active or another form of self-care, such as emotional or social. It may be acknowledging difficulties you are facing and figuring out the best way for you to manage or considering how you communicate with others; are you able to be boundaried or ask for help when required? You are your own expert and know what you need to look after you.

Examples of self-care – ways to look after you:

  • Rest
  • Eat something tasty
  • Have a bath
  • Use nice smelling aftershave or perfume
  • Spend time in nature
  • Stretch
  • Light a candle
  • Read a book 
  • Have some alone time
  • Get active
  • Meditate
  • Be kind to yourself.
  • Go outside
  • Forgive yourself
  • Hug
  • Pamper
  • Consider yourself for once
  • Ask for help
  • Connect with others
  • Do yoga 
  • Communicate your needs to others
