How We Speak To Ourselves

Self-talk is that voice in our heads; the one that can quietly reassure or harshly critique. We can choose to befriend it or work against it.

We can influence how we speak to ourselves and this has a major impact on how we feel.

Would you have a friend who is constantly harsh and critical, who speaks to you in a derogatory manner, often name-calling? Well if you wouldn’t let a friend speak to you like this then why is it okay to speak to yourself like this? Would you talk to others the same way you speak to yourself?

Why don’t you try speaking a little kinder to yourself, perhaps how you would speak to a loved one? Notice the tone you use. Try to offer yourself some reassurance and comfort. Becoming aware of your internal dialogue can really help to remain positive.
